Our Parkinson's Specific Exercise Programs are based on medically based research that have been shown to help those with Parkinson's Disease.  The exercises may seem similar to other programs, but there are specific modifications that address the challenges that Parkinson's Disease causes.

Why high intensity exercise?

High Intensity Exercise has been shown to alleviate rigidity and excessive muscle tone for individuals with Parkinson's Disease. Individuals should be exercising at a "higher intensity than they believe they can" in order to receive these benefits. Exercise and movement has been shown to slow the progression of Parkinson's Disease; this is known as neuroprotection. Exercise and movement can also create new neuro pathways to "bypass" those not functioning well; this is known as neuroplasticity.

Who can participate?

All individuals with Parkinson's Disease regardless of age and disease progression. Individuals with Parkinson's Disease looking to improve their tone, rigidity, and overall function. The High Intensity Exercise Program is specific for newly diagnosed individuals and those with more mild symptoms.
