Who can participate?
All individuals with Parkinson's Disease regardless of age and disease progression. Individuals with Parkinson's Disease interested in working their mind and body, at the same time. Individuals need no prioir music experience to participate in this program. All equipment will be provided.
Why music?
Combining music and movement will assist individuals with Parkinson's Disease increase their ability to multitask. Music and movmement together challenges the cognitive, dementia aspects of the disease process. Large, purposeful movements completed with boomwackers have been found to be beneficial for individuals with Parkinson's Disease. Drummercise will provide both aerobic and cognitive benefits through large, accentuated movements along with following cadence and rhythm.
Social and Refreshments
Social and refreshment time will follow each of our sessions. This is an opportunity for individuals with Parkinson's Disease and their Care Partners to talk with one another and build a community.

In case of inclement weather, the STAR Association reserves the right to cancel a session. Participants will be notified via TeamSnap.
The STAR Association follows CDC and State, and County Health Department recommendations for COVID Mitigation. We recommend that all who are eligible to get a vaccine to do so. Masks, Social Distancing and good hand washing will be required at all STAR programs.
